Card payments with Stripe

Customers pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and Afterpay or Klarna if you turn them on, into your own account.

  1. Connect Stripe In Settings, Payments, connect your own Stripe account, or make one. Stripe asks for your business and bank details.
  2. Switch on card payments Turn on card payments and, if you like, a deposit percentage customers pay when they approve. For regulars you trust, edit the customer and tick No deposit needed: their jobs don't wait on a deposit, their blanks start ticked on Purchasing, and they aren't asked for one online. New customers keep the deposit.
  3. Customers pay from their link Customers pay from their quote or invoice link, and members pay for club store orders the same way. The money goes straight to your Stripe account. We add no fee on top: Stripe charges its usual fees, and that's all.
  4. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay Stripe's payment page takes cards, and Apple Pay or Google Pay on phones and browsers that have them. You don't need to set anything up for these.
  5. Afterpay and Klarna To offer pay later too, open Settings, Payments and follow the link to your Stripe payment methods, then turn on Afterpay or Klarna. Stripe shows them when an order fits their limits. Stripe's fees for them are higher than for cards. You're paid in full; the customer pays Afterpay or Klarna over time.
  6. Recorded for you Each payment is recorded on the invoice or store order once, when Stripe says it's paid, and invoice payments go to Xero or QuickBooks if they're connected. If a payment that settles later doesn't go through, it stays unpaid and your Activity says so.
